SARAT ALABIDUN
Sustainable Energy, batteries and materials researcher. Women, minorities in STEM advocate.
ABOUT ME
I am currently a PhD candidate in Chemical engineering at the Titirici Group, Imperial College London where I study materials for energy storage, specifically batteries. In my research, I use operando techniques to better understand degradation in sodium ion batteries, and try to use this understanding to develop better batteries.I am particularly interested in research focused on energy and sustainability and have worked in these areas in my undergraduate research at Usmanu Danfodiyo university, Sokoto , my masters research at the Cheng group, Northern Illinois university, Dekalb illinois and in industry R & D at Tesla and About Energy.
I am also interested in bridging the diversity gap in STEM fields as I think representation is highly important in STEM, hence I volunteer as a student leader at Imperial college London where I teach science to high school and primary school students, especially from minority groups. In addition, I have given a Ted Talk titled "How to get more young Nigerian girls in STEM" that can be found on YouTube.
Detailed information about my career trajectory can be found in my CV here.
